False Creek

False Creek Neighbourhood The next up and coming waterfront community of Vancouver. The False Creek Neighbourhood, commonly referred to as Olympic Village (an area that housed the Olympic athletes during the 2010 winter games). False Creek has transformed immensely since the Olympics from what was previously a run down industrial area separating the East and West side of Vancouver to an electric waterfront community. Mostly consists of new condo developments, False Creek continues to develop more and more homes and businesses. If you’re investing in the future False Creek should be heavily considered with plenty of potential as much of the area is still being developed. Walk along the seawall or just over the Cambie Street bridge into Downtown Vancouver. Schools: Much like the rest of Vancouver, False Creek is close to almost everything, including schools. Such as False Creek elementary, Henry Hudson and Tennyson are close enough to commute to. Kitsilano Secondary is the closes secondary school. Private school options include, Madrona, St. John’s International, and St. Augustine school. Shopping & Restaurants: False Creek consists of unique shops specific to Vancouver as well as major chain stores such as Canadian Tire, Save on Foods and Home Depot. False Creek

Fairview Neighbourhood Located adjacent to Kitsilano and the famous Granville Island, the Fairview neighbourhood offers similar convenience to Downtown Vancouver without the noise. Much like Kitsilano it offers some stunning views of the Downtown Vancouver skyline. You won’t find any single family homes but has plenty of older condos and townhouses offering larger than usual square footage. Schools: With it’s close proximity to surrounding area, Fairview offers easy commutes to many schools. It offers a bilingual elementary school and easy access to Tennyson and False Creek elementary. Price of Whales and Kitsilano Secondary are within walking distance of Fairview. Blessed Sacrament, St. John’s international, and Madrona offer private school alternatives. Post secondary Emily Carr Institute is located nearby on Granville Island for all the art lovers out there. Restaurants and shopping: Lots of shopping located from 16th avenue to Granville Street bridge consisting of small boutique shops, antiques, coffee shops and restaurants. All the major chain shopping is located on West Broadway in the heart of Fairview. You’ll find businesses like Indigo/Chapters, Future Shop, London Drugs. If you want to experience something new you will have to venture over to Granville Island. It has some awesome restaurants, and a local

Kitsilano Neighbourhood Kitsilano is one of the fine gems in Vancouver and one of the most recognized neighbourhoods in all of Canada. Located just outside of Downtown Vancouver it offers a quieter neighbourhood but still just a short commute to everything Downtown has to offer. Don’t sell Kitsilano short, it boasts a plethora of locally owned and unique shops and restaurants and is what makes Kits so unique. It has arguably the best beaches in all of Vancouver and offers some stunning views. Makes for perfect walks along the beach or seawall or enjoy the views while relaxing in the large outdoor community pool. It consists of a diverse mix of people, from students to families and everything in between. Many students will rent in Kitsilano and commute to UBC. Families also prefer Kits because it offers a diverse mix of housing. My personal favourite outside of Downtown. Schools: Kitsilano has a whole bunch of elementary and secondary schools, public and private. For elementary students there is Gordon elementary, Bayview elementary, Tennyson elementary, and Henry Hudson elementary. The main high school is Kitsilano Secondary School. Commutable alternatives are Prince of Whales and Lord Byng Secondary. Private school options include St.

Coal Harbour: Luxury condo living. Considered the nicest area in downtown Vancouver, the views of the North Shore, Stanley Park and Burrard Inlet are phenomenal. Coal Harbour is the most expensive area, but certainly a worthy investment, attracting some of the wealthiest people from around the world. It features some of the main tourist attractions, including, Canada Place with it’s tall ship sails design, the Vancouver World Trade Centre, Vancouver Cruise Ship terminal, and the Vancouver Convention Centre. Coal Harbour is a nature lover’s paradise. A stone’s throw distance to Stanley Park, one of the best rated parks in the entire world. The Harbour Seawall also borders Coal Harbour, offering the perfect spot for a walk, jog, or bike ride. If you need to relieve some stress there is no better feeling than a bike ride through Stanley Park while looking out at absolutely breath taking views. Coal Harbour is my personal favourite. Schools: Lord Roberts Elementary School and Lord Roberts Annex Elementary are both within walking distance of Coal Harbour. For older kids, The renowned King George Secondary School is also nearby. If you prefer private school over the public system, Pattison High School is a great option nearby.

West End The West End is a very diverse and intriguing area of Vancouver. A mix of old and new buildings, low rise and high rise, the options are plentiful. Highlights include many different housing options, English bay beach, and Stanley Park. Just adjacent of busy Dowtown Vancouver but also a short distance to the Lions Gate Bridge and the North Shore. The West End offers a slightly quieter area for residents but still walkable to everything available in the heart of Downtown Vancouver.  Many tree lined streets and older low rise buildings give off a bit of a Kitsilano feel. Schools:  Lord Roberts Elementary School and Lord Roberts Annex Elementary are located in the West End. For older kids, The renowned King George Secondary School is also in the West End. If you prefer private school over the public system, Pattison High School is a great option. It offers private education for grades 8-12. Another private school option is The Westside School. It offers two locations, one for grades K-9, the other for 10-12. Both options are in the West End. For continued education, The University of British Columbia has a downtown campus featuring Continuing Studies, Faculty of Law

Downtown Vancouver: Arguably the busiest area of all of Vancouver, but also, the most liveliest. Home of the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, and Vancouver White Caps. There’s plenty to do here. Mainly consists of high rise condos, and some townhouses. Downtown Vancouver is very biker friendly and encourages most to take advantage of the public transit system. Downtown Vancouver is a younger demographic. It is very culturally diverse and consists of mostly upper, to upper-middle class people who enjoy having everything at their doorstep. Schools The closest school would be Elsie Roy Elementary on Drake Street in Yaletown. Lord Roberts Elementary School and Lord Roberts Annex Elementary are both within walking distance of Downtown Vancouver as well. For older kids, The renowned King George Secondary School is also nearby. If you prefer private school over the public system, Pattison High School is a great option. It offers private education for grades 8-12. Another private school option is The Westside School. It offers two locations, one for grades K-9, the other for 10-12. Yaletown: A historic area of Vancouver, Yaletown is the fast growing neighbourhood in the Downtown Vancouver area. Yaletown was home of the original railway roundhouse. In the early 1900’s it started to grow and consisted of mainly warehouses and small manufacture companies. However, it never really took off. It wasn’t until the 1980’s when the city of Vancouver decided to rezone much the area and really transform it from industrial to a mixed use of industrial, commercial, and residential. Several of the warehouses have been converted to loft style residential units. A continued transformation has taken place with newer low rise and high rise buildings constructed since. Yaletown has become the place to be. Schools: Yaletown is home to Elsie Roy Elementary school. Lord Roberts Elementary School and Lord Roberts Annex Elementary are both within walking distance, although further away. For older kids, The renowned King George Secondary School is also nearby. If you prefer private school over the public system, Pattison High School is a great option nearby. It offers private education for grades 8-12. Another private school option is The Westside School. It offers two locations, one for grades K-9, the other for 10-12. Both options are within
