Kitsilano

Kitsilano Neighbourhood

Kitsilano is one of the fine gems in Vancouver and one of the most recognized neighbourhoods in all of Canada. Located just outside of Downtown Vancouver it offers a quieter neighbourhood but still just a short commute to everything Downtown has to offer. Don’t sell Kitsilano short, it boasts a plethora of locally owned and unique shops and restaurants and is what makes Kits so unique. It has arguably the best beaches in all of Vancouver and offers some stunning views. Makes for perfect walks along the beach or seawall or enjoy the views while relaxing in the large outdoor community pool. It consists of a diverse mix of people, from students to families and everything in between. Many students will rent in Kitsilano and commute to UBC. Families also prefer Kits because it offers a diverse mix of housing. My personal favourite outside of Downtown.

Schools:

Kitsilano has a whole bunch of elementary and secondary schools, public and private. For elementary students there is Gordon elementary, Bayview elementary, Tennyson elementary, and Henry Hudson elementary. The main high school is Kitsilano Secondary School. Commutable alternatives are Prince of Whales and Lord Byng Secondary. Private school options include St. John’s and St. Augustine School.

Restaurants & Shopping:

Here’s where things get interesting. Kitsilano offers a plethora of family owned shops, restaurants, and cafes. A walk down West 4th Avenue will satisfy even the pickiest of people. Although Kitsilano does have everyones favourite big chain names it prides itself on the small and unique family owned businesses. You won’t find any shopping malls here but can find everything you’ll ever need along West Broadway and West 4th.

Transportation:

Kitsilano is very accessible by car, foot, bike, or bus. Although it is a little more spread out than Downtown Vancouver everything can be accessed by foot. You will see a lot of residents taking advantage of the bike friendly area in the summer. Car sharing companies also make it easy to get to other areas such as Downtown or public transit is easily accessible as well.

Downtown Vancouver: Arguably the busiest area of all of Vancouver, but also, the most liveliest. Home of the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, and Vancouver White Caps. There’s plenty to do here. Mainly consists of high rise condos, and some townhouses. Downtown Vancouver is very biker friendly and encourages most to...
